Welcome to the Sesser-Valier Elementary School website. This site will provide information about the staff, students, curriculum, activities, and programs. Sesser-Valier Elementary School provides education for 290 students in grades EC - 5. The school provides a curriculum that is aligned with the Illinois Learning Standards, but is in the process of moving towards the Common Core State Standards. The staff at S-V Elementary is committed to high expectations for all students and providing the best possible learning environment.
Each morning, students in SVES (Sesser-Valier Elementary School) start their day by saying the S-V Class Pledge. This pledge summarizes the rules and expectations of the student while they are at school.
S-V Class Pledge
I pledge to try to do my best
Every single day.
Listening, learning and being fair
When I work and play.
Keeping hands and feet to myself
Treating others with respect.
Making sure our things are neat
Is what we should expect.
I'll listen when my teacher speaks
And follow every rule.
I pledge I'll be a good citizen
In my classroom and my school.
In 2010, Sesser-Valier Elementary School was awarded the Federal Blue Ribbon School Award. This award was in recognition for making improvements to the curriculum. Many of these changes were due to the school's participation as a demonstration school in the Illinois ASPIRE program. The Blue Ribbon Award is through the US Department of Education and is used to recognize school across the nation for high achievement and for improvement of educational programs.
